Matt Miles - Creative Director

Matt Miles is an award winning documentary filmmaker and media producer based in Vancouver, BC. His work is a unique blend of cultural and social inquiry, focusing on remote Indigenous community building and insightful short form work about artists and craftsmen. He is also available for corporate and promotional video work and works frequently in this field.

Matt grew up in Oxford, England where he completed a degree in Creative Music Technology. In 2010 he established Approach Media shortly after emigrating to Canada. Music based documentary work and music video production have been a consistent feature in the projects he has undertaken, and continue to be one of the areas which he finds most rewarding.

Jayce Hawkins - DOP

Jayce Hawkins is a cinematographer and editor with a wide range of expertise from cinematography to complex motion graphics. Jayce has extensive experience on projects for an array of clientele including master carver Carey Newman, The City of Victoria, Viking Air, The Narwhal, and Motorola. His passion for imagery and the human condition is reflected in his work, and has taken him to Canada’s most northern communities, and across North America.

Currently based in Vancouver, BC. Jayce spent 17 years between Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Denmark. His travels have fueled a desire to tell stories that help us celebrate, reflect, and learn, and he believes that cross-culture themes and a strong photographic eye will continue to help innovate and drive the world of motion work. Jayce was educated in Fine Arts and Writing at the University of Victoria.

Eva Brownstein, Field Producer   Raised between the mountains of Northern India and British Columbia, Eva has always had a love for wild places and the people that inhabit them. With a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a Graduate degree in Communications, her filmmaking practice has evolved through curiosity, determination, and saying yes.  Her diverse interests have lead her through a wide range of media landscapes – from music videos to narrative documentary to sinking islands off the coast of India.

Raised between the mountains of Northern India and British Columbia, Eva has always had a love for wild places and the people that inhabit them. With a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a Graduate degree in Communications, her filmmaking practice has evolved through curiosity, determination, and saying yes.

Andy Robertson, Scientific Liaison   Andy Robertson is a filmmaker and communications strategist living on Canada's west coast. With fifteen years of experience as a digital media producer and filmmaker, Andy is passionate about communicating important social issues and scientific discovery to new audiences, while exploring new tools of communication.  Andy's credits include "Reaching Blue" (producer/director) "Funding the Future, New York Times" (cinematographer), "Ghana: Project Tourism", (producer/director, "The Thaw: Behind the Scenes" (producer).

He moved to Bozeman, Montana, where he completed his MA in environmental history.  Ryan is a story-teller first and foremost. His writing and photography has appeared in The Flyfish Journal, The Drake, Fly Tyer, Nebraskaland, Fly Fusion, FlyFisher, Ontario Out of Doors, and other prestigious outdoor magazines and online outlets.
