After the Spill
The Narwhal
Client - The Narwhal / Documentary Video Production
After the Nathan E. Stewart ran aground in 2016, spilling 110,000 litres of diesel, lubricants and other pollutants into a critical food harvesting area, the Heiltsuk waited 17 hours for oil spill responders to arrive.
Now the First Nation has a proposal to drastically reduce those response times — by creating the first-ever Indigenous Marine Response Centre.

Spending time with the Heiltsuk Guardian Watchmen in Bella Bella was a humbling experience, and we can't thank them enough for their hospitality and story.

This film was produced with a small production crew of only three people, and was nominated for 'Best Video' at the 'Canadian Online Publishing Awards'.
